State College is the 12th most populous municipality in Pennsylvania. With a population of just over 42,000, State College is known for its hospitality and historic, friendly neighborhoods.
State College attracts visitors with our popular restaurants, lively nightlife, active arts scene, and abundant retail establishments.
The historic town of State College is also a town of new ideas and change.
Home of the NIttany Lions, the Borough of State College is more than
proud to say that we house the great Pennsylvania State University. Penn
State is the heart of our town, and our great communication helps build
and maintain a healthy relationship between us and the University. The
students contribute a great amount to the diversity in the area.
We strive to be a town where everybody is welcome, and diversity is our
strength. Our neighborhood relations coordinator works closely with the
Off-Campus Student Union, Penn State Fraternity and Sorority Life, and
the Neighborhood Coalition to ensure that college students are
represented in the community.
Whether its your first year or
your last semester at Penn State, the Borough of State College is always
ready to welcome students with open arms. Our mission is to "enhance
the quality of life by fostering a safe, vibrant, diverse, and
sustainable community" for all residents.
